West Marin 5

West Marin 5 was created using pigments sourced from Northern California, a place that became a second home to Jessyjo. The materials include sandstone, purple mussel shells, and charcoal, all gathered from the coast where she spent much of her time camping and surfing.

The purple mussel shells are the focus in this piece. Once ground and turned into paint, the shells offer a beautiful soft lavender hue, that is cool and refreshing, reminiscent of the cool foggy mornings along the coast of Northern California.
